There is no option of *not* doing it. It does get a bit easier when they are gone for long periods because you adjust, but it's not easy by any means ever. Deployments were pretty much the main reason why we left active duty. I too, have a very supportive husba...I SO hear you. I too, have a very supportive husband but he is in the national guard, so there are times that he is not around...and I am in awe of the amazing single parents I see around me. I can't handle a weekend sometimes...yet they do it daily. Unbelievable. I do think that the longer they're gone, the easier it gets...but thank God it's temporary!
